Cold Sores

Cold Sores
Many people ask me "what causes cold sores?" There are actually 2 answers to this question. The root cause of cold sores is the herpes simplex virus type 1 or type 2. Once contracted, this virus lives in your body for life. Eventually I find that what people really want to know is what causes the cold sores outbreak event - the actual sores on the lip.

This outbreak event is primarily caused by physical stress of some sort such as catching a cold or flu for example.

But it's very common with the people I work with to get cold sores from mental stress situations.
